Discover Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia, affectionately known as the Helen of the West, is an idyllic, tropical island in the Caribbean. It is the birthplace of two Nobel laureates — Sir Arthur Lewis (Economics) and Sir Derek Walcott (Literature). There are two airports with major airlines providing direct and regular connections for international and regional travel. Conveniently located between North and South America, Saint Lucia boasts multiple non-stop flights from America, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe.

About Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia has earned global acclaim and received numerous awards for its tourism product. Three of its hotel resorts have been named Best Hotel in the World. The island has also been recognized as the world’s leading honeymoon destination. An array of new five-star boutique resorts, offering luxury and privacy, appeals to the most discerning travellers. Saint Lucia already has two internationally acclaimed marinas and will soon commence construction on a third, ready to welcome even the largest mega yachts. The newest attractions include two 18-hole championship golf courses – one designed by Greg Norman and the other by Ben Crenshaw. The island will shortly host its first international horse race at the soon-to-be opened Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club.

Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia has stunning scenery, beaches and dive sites and is home to some of the best spas in the world. The iconic Piton mountains are the centrepiece of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Oprah Winfrey even declaring them to be “one of the top five places to see in your lifetime”.

English is the official language and, as part of the British Commonwealth, the island has enjoyed a stable democracy since Independence in 1979. The local currency of the Eastern Caribbean dollar is at a fixed rate with the US dollar and is widely accepted as one of the most secure currencies in the world.

Although Saint Lucia is lauded as a tourist destination, diversification of its economy has been steadily progressing through investments in real estate, financial services, agriculture, ICT, education and healthcare.
